Theresa McAteer
 

Theresa McAteer is a principal in the law firm of McAteer & McAteer, APLC.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Southern California, a Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Law School, and a Graduate Diploma in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law. Ms. McAteer practiced business and banking litigation for 10 years with the law firm of Schall, Boudreau & Gore. She left the firm in 1994 to become the Director of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of San Diego. In 1995, she joined the Office of the City Attorney, where her projects included the financing for the Convention Center Expansion, and negotiation of several related agreements between the City and the San Diego Unified Port District; the formation of the public/private partnership to provide the City’s emergency medical response services; several matters related to the City’s downtown ballpark and redevelopment project, including the Environmental Impact Report for the ballpark project; and advised the City Council and City departments on a wide variety of municipal law issues.  In November 2001, Ms. McAteer left the City Attorney’s Office to join her husband, Christopher E. McAteer, in private practice.  As a principal with McAteer & McAteer, Ms. McAteer currently serves as general counsel to the San Diego Convention Center Corporation, and advises other public and private clients on government, employment and business matters.
