Chris Marek is the Chief Officer of Development and Strategy for San Diego Habitat for Humanity.  In this role, he is responsible for leading the Affiliate in meeting its fundraising and communication goals by overseeing activities in fundraising, media and public relations, community events, special events, legislative affairs, outreach and revenue generation.

While at the Red Cross, Chris exceeded Chapter fundraising goals, secured a grant for $1.223 million, the largest grant in the Chapter’s history, and within six days during the 2007 San Diego Wildfires, raised over $26 million.  He streamlined internal and external communications and disaster public affairs and served as the Communications Lead for all Red Cross chapters in the state of California.

Chris spent several years in business development with Active Marketing Group and 24 Fitness USA.  At Active, he was responsible for sponsorship sales and marketing opportunities for Fortune 500 corporations at sporting events and non-profit events throughout the United States. While with 24 Hour Fitness, he developed and implemented all national promotions, sport sponsorships, local marketing and sales for the 300+ club, $1billion, privately-held operator of fitness clubs and services.
