Volunteer Spotlight
Adonis Dulay

When one thinks of volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, thoughts of swinging hammers, framing structures, and power tools automatically come to mind.  While that is certainly an accurate image of our volunteer program; it is not a complete one.  Our ReStore is one of hundreds across the country where volunteers assist with donation pick-ups, customer service, merchandising, and a variety of other duties.

Navy veteran Adonis Dulay has already made in impact in the three weeks that he has been at our ReStore by working as a Driver’s Assistant.   I love getting out there into the community and giving quality time to the public,” he said.   Working at the ReStore is Dulay’s very first volunteer experience, but he says it already feels like home.  “The staff at the ReStore has really made me feel welcome and part of the team,” he shared.

When asked why he picked the ReStore, he said that he liked the mission and the variety of tasks that it offered.  “What’s nice about working here is that it’s a purely positive experience,” he explained.

Our Restore supports our operation to end poverty housing with a simple premise: by selling donated building materials and household items, we can fund the construction of more Habitat homes in San Diego County.

Volunteering at, or donating to, the ReStore is yet another way to support San Diego Habitat for Humanity while meeting your fellow San Diegans as they discount shop for furniture, building materials, and other goods.
