Building homes with God's people in need
Make our vision of affordable housing a reality!
We invite volunteers from all walks of life to come together and help eliminate poverty housing in San Diego. Volunteers are welcome on construction sites, and always at the Restore, Administrative Office, and Newsletter and Event Committees!
Construction volunteers help construct the home from beginning to end. They do everything from concrete work for the foundation, framing the walls, hanging drywall to painting, installing cabinets and landscaping! No experience is necessary, since our crew leaders are willing to teach anyone interested in learning. This is a fantastic way to learn new skills while helping people and the community. There are building opportunities both during the week and on Saturdays. To get involved, please call our volunteer coordinator Carolyn Bollman at 619-283-4663 at ext. 316, or email johnp@sdhfh.org.
The ReStore is in need of a multitude of tasks from everyday activities, cleanup projects, coordinating special improvement projects, organization and placement of materials and help with marketing. Please call 619-516-5267 for more information.
The Newsletter Committee is responsible for attending events, writing news articles, taking photographs and researching information to add to the quarterly Newsletter, The Quarter Inch Report. To get involved, please contact Karen Youel at 619-283-4663 ext. 305 or at kareny@sdhfh.org. Karen is the Director of Special Projects and Planned Giving.
The Event Committee is part of the planning process for our fundraising events. We need ideas and input for planning, obtaining silent auction items, graphic design, and basically your time and talent! To get involved, please contact Karen Youel at 619-283-4663 ext. 305 or at kareny@sdhfh.org.
Youth groups are also important partners of Habitat. Youth groups are encouraged to volunteer; however, certain policies must be adhered to comply with legal and insurance requirements. See our Youth
Policy for more information.
Whether volunteering
individually or as a group, the experience is fulfilling, educational
and fun. We couldn't do it without you! |
